An Important Message to California Homeowners:
A good contractor always has good credit. That contractor also carries insurance, pays taxes, and knows how to run a business. They also have good references. Verification of standards such as these are not easy for you, the homeowner. That is why the contractor on this letter is special. This company has been approved by the League of California Homeowners which is a non-profit consumer organization created in 1993 by homeowners; for homeowners. You may ask yourself, "what makes an approved contractor?" Well, some background first.
One of our many services is the development of a background investigation program to examine home remodeling contractors for our members. Early in 1997 our association was approached by The Southern California Gas Company and Countrywide Home Loans. We were asked to put together a list of approved contractors. Both SoCalGas and Countrywide needed to have this list in order to service certain customers who were involved in special home remodeling residential energy efficiency improvement programs. The league agreed to help. Right from the beginning a strict criterion was established to identify contractors who were to be in the approved program.
While not all contractors applied for approval, several hundred did apply. Out of those who applied, two out of three did not make the grade.
Comfort Control Corp. is an approved contractor.
